All of our bookmarks are handmade from only the finest high grade hand selected sustainable hardwoods. These bookmarks feature a variety of beautiful natural grain woods, hand selected from some of our favorite's, including; maple, walnut, cherry, beech, sapele, cedar, padouk, bubinga, purleheart, myrtlewood, wenge and zebra wood.
Because the patterns are created and assembled from solid pieces of wood, they look the same on both sides. No stains or dyes are used. We'll also pick the right color suede tassel to compliment each bookmark, unless you opt to leave them off. Choose options using the Quantity Style select box above.
Each of the bookmarks in your surprise collection will come individually packaged with a gift pouch and information card. Each one makes a wonderful gift to be given alone, in a greeting card or included with a book.
I first came across Mitercraft's all-wood bookmarks many years ago, in the gift shop of the Central Library in downtown Seattle, and pretty much fell in love with them at first sight. They’re made near Seattle, up in the San Juan Islands, by a very small company called Mitercraft, from sustainable woods left in their natural colors. The creation is pains-taking: the wood has to be precisely cut and assembled — like the loaf of polychrome dough that you slice to make checkerboard cookies — then cut across the grain and finished. Of course they function well to mark your place (and, when no ruler is handy, as ad hoc straight-edges); but beyond all that I just find them pleasant to handle and gaze at and play with.
These bookmarks are beautiful! They are well put together and last and last. I love mine, and so does everyone who sees them.
I am addicted. I've bought a dozen or so bookmarks in the past four or five years and I love them all!
